Event organisers are responsible for producing an event right from its conception through to the completion as well. Initially an event organizing professional builds up the skeleton structure and then executes his work according to it. The events include the exhibitions and fairs, festivals, conferences, promotions and product launches, fund raising and social events. They can work in both public and private sector, not-for-profit sector and also for the event management companies as a freelancer or a regular employee. His/ her work also involves working as a part of a team. His/her work involves a wide range of activities which requires clear communication, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. They have to ensure smooth and efficient running of an event by working well under pressure.

The role of an event organiser depends on the type of the event and the organization as well. The work of the organiser of the event involves researching markets to identify opportunities for events, liaising with clients to ascertain their precise event requirements, producing detailed proposals for events ,agreeing to and managing a budget, securing and booking a suitable venue or location, ensuring insurance, legal, health and safety obligations are adhered to, coordinating venue management, caterers, stand designers, contractors and equipment hire; organizing facilities for car parking, traffic control, security, first aid, hospitality and the media; identifying and securing speakers or special guests, planning room layouts and the entertainment program, scheduling workshops and demonstrations, coordinating staffing requirements and staff briefings; selling sponsorship/stand/exhibition space to potential exhibitors/partners; preparing delegate packs and papers, liaising with marketing and PR colleagues to promote the event, liaising with clients and designers to create a brand for the event and organizing the production of tickets, posters, catalogues and sales brochures, coordinating suppliers, handling client queries and troubleshooting on the day of the event to ensure that all runs smoothly, overseeing the dismantling and removal of the event and clearing the venue efficiently; post-event evaluation.
